Holding Space as January Ends
January has been quiet in the gardens—it’s a time for rest, reflection, and planning. Even with frozen ground and short days, this weekend marks the beginning of the 2026 growing season.
Social media posts have been slow as I make space for the fear, anger, and grief many folks are carrying. My pause isn’t about disengagement—it’s about care.
Behind the scenes, I’ve been responding to a growing need for community food support. As I plan the season, I’m also helping nourish neighbors by delivering warm meals and donating fresh eggs and preserved food to those sheltering in safety.
Gardens are never just about plants—they’re about people too. Even in heavy times like these, there is light—community strength and courage remind us to care for each other. As we move toward spring, I am here, committed to growing care. Together.
With gratitude and solidarity,
Kelly
